A Missed Opportunity, Blame It On The “Christians”

The election is over and the pundits are assessing blame for why Romney lost.  I can’t say I was excited by the results.  When a sitting President pushes abortion and same sex marriage and still wins re-election it says a great deal about the moral decline of our country.  I have to look no farther than my “Christian brothers and sisters” to fix blame for the loss.  Those who voted for Obama as well as those who chose not to vote for either candidate because Romney was a Mormon.  Did those who did not vote fail to realize that the failure to cast a ballot is in effect a vote for the incumbent?  How could a “Christian” vote for abortion and same sex marriage.  They obviously did not pray and ask God who to vote for.  For those who refused to vote for Romney because he was a Mormon surely meet the qualification of being ‘so heavenly minded they are of no earthly good.’

This was an election where God was looking for his people to stand up for right.  Billy Graham bought a full page ad in The Wall Street Journal which in part stated “I believe it is vitally important that we cast our ballots for candidates who base their decisions on biblical principles and support the nation of Israel.  I urge you to vote for those who protect the sanctity of life and support the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.  Vote for biblical values this November 6, and pray with me that America will remain one nation under God.”  Rev. Graham was standing up for God, but several Baptist Theological professors accused him of being a ‘shill for the Republican Party’.  Billy Graham a shill.  Really!  He asks people to pray and to stand up for biblical principles and “Christians” believe he is a shill.  Since when is standing up for Godly principles wrong?

Obviously people are using the word “Christian” very freely.  Just because you go to church doesn’t make you a Christian anymore than staying in a garage make you a car.  If you cannot stand up for God, you are not a Christian.  If you vote for one who fosters non biblical actions you are not a Christian.  If party affiliation or race tops biblical principles you are not a Christian.  Christians are assisting in destroying the foundations of the country.  Psalm 11:3 states, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

Psalm 11:4-5 also states in part “The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord’s throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.  The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. (emphasis supplied)  I believe this election was a time to try the righteous, and many of the righteous failed the trial.

For a Christian to refuse to support a moral individual because he is in a ‘cult’ shows a lack of faith in God.  God caused Nebuchadnezzar, an idol worshiper, to support God’s people (Daniel 3:24-30, 4:1-37), caused Balaam, an Edomite, to prophesy for God’s people (Numbers 23-24), caused as ass to speak (Numbers 22:22-34), caused Cyrus, the king of Persia, to let his people return to Jerusalem (Isaiah 44:28) and caused Caiaphas, a turn coat Jew, to prophesy the value of the death of Jesus to the world.

Psalm 29:2 states “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.”  We, as Christians, have, since 1962 with the Supreme Court approval of the removal of prayer from school, seen the continued disconnection of God from this government, an erosion of the biblical principles and foundation upon which this country was founded and a move forward toward the judgment of God.  November 6 only escalated the move toward judgment.  Christians had one line in the play and blew it!
