Vain Prayer By One Seeking Votes

It was a shock to some people that Mike Dickinson, a Democrat running for Congress in the State of Virginia tweeted the following prayer “Dear god. Please use Ebola to infect the @NRA and it’s various members. For they are A true virus and true terrorists in America.”  I am not sure to what god Mr. Dickinson was praying.  My God is a big ‘G’ God not a little ‘g’ god.  But if he was praying to my God and he just failed to properly punctuate then he must not know God.  God is a healer not one who inflicts a disease on a group of individuals because of a prayer of a person who has no tolerance for those who hold a different belief from his.

God loves Mr. Dickinson and God loves the members of the @NRA. He will not answer Mr. Dickinson’s prayer.  Paul spoke to Timothy about proper conduct by those whose profess to be followers of God, “Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned: From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; ” I Timothy 1:5-6 (emphasis supplied)  It appears that Mr. Dickinson’s prayer certainly lacked charity from a pure heart and a good conscience therefore his tweet was just vain jangling and his prayer fell on deft ears.  God could not and would not answer such a hateful prayer.

I would hope that the good people of Mr. Dickinson’s district in Virginia would pray before they cast their vote this fall and ask God who they should vote for as their Congressman.  If his prayer is an example of his tolerance then what type of laws will he draft?
