Our Duty to God pt 3

9. We are to praise God as set forth in Psalm 150 which tells us where and why we praise God. The Psalm ends with this directive, “Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.” Psalm 150″6. (emphasis supplied)
10. We are to give thanks to God for all of his goodness to us. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:18 The Message Bible translates this as “Thank God no matter what happens. This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live. (emphasis supplied)
11. We have a committment to pray to God both for our benefit and as a show of submission to him that through him are our needs met. “Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.” Psalm 5:2 “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1 “Pray without ceasing.” I Thessalonians 5:17 (emphasis supplied)
12. We are also to make intercession to God for others. “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;…..For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;” I Timothy 2:1,3 (emphasis supplied) The Message Bible sets it forth as “The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation. This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.” Needless to say, if we meet all dozen duties to God, we will be in as close to right standing with God as we can. The closer we get to doing all dozen, the better we are and the stronger our relationship with God and his Son, Jesus Christ.
